Weddings –

Under no circumstances should anyone awaiting test verification, including Clergy (even without presenting symptoms) attend a church or parish setting until a diagnosis is confirmed. Additionally, under no circumstances should anyone attend who is closely connected to people who are awaiting test results or who have tested positive.

(We are located in Victoria under last step restriction due to COVID-19 Outbreak)

Weddings:

Although indoor weddings have no cap with the number of attendees but they have with a density quotient of 1 per 2sqm. Our church can only accommodate up to a cap of only 110 people including 2 witnesses at that stage! Plus, the couple, the celebrant and a photographer. Infants under 12 months of age are not included in this cap. These numbers and rules may change again due to the rapid changes in Government regulations and persuasions taken to eliminate the spread of COVID-19.

Outdoor Weddings: Permitted with no cap on numbers of attendees but have to maintain 2sqm distance rule has to apply. Place of  a wedding must be adjacent to the place of worship.

Please note that we are required by the government regulations to obtain prior to all bookings a list of names, addresses and telephone numbers of all attendees including babies and children, so please provide this list with your completed wedding application form or you can send the list as a soft copy by an email prior to your wedding.

Please take all precautions when entering and while inside the church like maintaining distance, keeping your mask on at all times and use the hand sanitizer provided at the church door. People taking photos must maintain all precautions mentioned above.

St. Carthage’s Church is a popular place for weddings both for graduates of the University and others.

You will need to make an appointment approximately 2 months prior to your wedding date to fill out any necessary forms.

Information for Weddings Current List of Attendees for Wedding Cermonies

Baptisms –

Under no circumstances should anyone awaiting test verification, including the faith leader (even without presenting symptoms) attend a church or parish setting until a diagnosis is confirmed. Additionally, under no circumstances should anyone attend who is closely connected to people who are awaiting test results or who have tested positive.

(We are located in Victoria zone under last step restriction due to COVID-19 Outbreak)

Indoor Baptisms:

Although indoor Baptisms have no cap with the number of attendees but they have with a density quotient of 1 per 2sqm. Our church can only accommodate up to a cap of only 110 people plus a faith leader. We currently can accommodate 5 families of 10-12 adults from each family for our Sunday Baptisms at 11.15am based on first called first booked.

Outdoor Baptisms:

Permitted with no cap but must maintain the current 2sqm distancing rule. Place of baptism must be adjacent to the place of worship.

Note: Indoor and outdoor services are not to be held concurrently, it is only one group permitted at a time.

The celebration of Baptism takes place weekly only on SUNDAYS at St. Carthages, at either the 10.00am Family Mass or in a Group Baptism Ceremony at 11.15am. Please call the office first to check for availabilities.

Last year over 200 people were baptized at St. Carthage’s.

First Communion Program for 2021

There will be only one preparation Program offered this year at St Carthages.

  • Program starts on Sunday 14th March 2021

March Program will commence as indicated in the table below!

* No booking is required prior to the start of the procedures on the enrolment Sunday. Just turn up on the day please!

*All children (Candidates) must attend the first two Sunday Sessions and one Mass time of the First Communion Weekend as shown in the table below.

* Sponsors only have to attend on First Communion Day.

* The number of seats per family for the Communion Masses will be announced at the Enrolment afternoon. Normally 5 People as a limit for each family inclusive (candidates, parents & siblings) to attend because of the church capacity.

Please note:

Due to the current lockdown rules with the density limit of 1 person per 2 square meters. Our church space can accommodate only up to a cap of 24 families, 5 people from each family plus the priest are allowed to attend the indoor celebration at that stage! All children above 12 months are included in the total. Infants under 12 months are not included in the cap. These numbers and rules may change again due to the rapid changes in Government rules and precautions taken to eliminate the spread of COVID-19.

Please note that we are required by the government rules to obtain prior to all church celebrations a list of names, addresses and telephone numbers of all attendees including infants and children, so please provide and staple this list to your completed First Communion application form.

We ask the family of the candidate person to ask any person/s who is/are welling to attend any of their First Communion Masses to stay home if they feel even slightly unwell to stop the spread of any disease.

Celebration of Confirmation at St. Carthage’s 2021 – (On Hold Due to COVID-19 Outbreak)

Dates for Confirmation at St. Carthage’s to be advised here at any time during 2021.

In accordance with the Archbishop’s Decree of 10 November 2020 granting the faculty to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to Parish Priests and Administrators of Parishes within the Archdiocese of Melbourne during this time of emergency until 31 December 2020.Confirmation celebrations may now take place in accordance with that Decree

 

Fr. Michael Elligate our Parish Priest is yet to delegate to determine locally whether Confirmation will be conferred within Mass or without Mass. Confirmation Ceremonies are currently suspended UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE due to COVID-19.
